GOWHAR BHAT-Srinagar, Feb 6: Amidst a curfew-like situation and somber scenes, the 16-year old teenager, Zahid Farooq, who was shot dead allegedly by paramilitary troopers on Friday, was laid to eternal rest at his ancestral graveyard in city outskirts today, even as life in the Kashmir Valley remained crippled for the sixth consecutive day Saturday due to the undeclared curfew and shutdown.

Masarat Alam booked under PSA for 7th time

Srinagar, Feb 6: Senior Hurriyat Conference (G) leader and Muslim League chairman, Masarat Alam Bhat, has been detained under Public Safety Act for seventh consecutive time since September 2008.

 He was first booked under PSA in September 2008 after Amarnath land row agitation. The High Court quashed his sixth PSA on January 1, 2010 and ordered his release from Central jail Srinagar on the same day.

No record of Kashmir solution formula in Foreign Office: Qureshi

 ISLAMABAD, Feb 7: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that neither he, nor the people of Pakistan have any knowledge about the proposal of Kashmir solution evolved by the previous government.In an interview to a private television channel the Minister said, the proposal was never debated in the country thus it is unknown to anyone. It was claimed by the foreign minister of the previous government that India and Pakistan had almost reached a solution and just the announcement of the same was remaining the Minister said adding but that announcement was never made.

GOWHAR BHAT-Srinagar, Feb 5: In one more incident of its kind in less than a week, another young boy who had gone to play cricket near his residence at Nishat on Friday, was bought home dead.

16-year-old, Zahid Farooq alias Shoaib of Sheikh Mohalla, Brain, Nishat, according to his friends - also eyewitness to the incident - said they offered Friday prayers in the nearby mosque and then went out to play cricket in a field on the banks of Dal Lake.

Normal life was paralysed for the fourth consecutive day today in view of an indefinite curfew in most parts of Srinagar city and a general strike in rest of Kashmir.
