Freedom struggle to continue - Rehmani

Islamabad, March 30|05 :Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Convenor All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Azad Kashmir chapter has categorically stated that in no case the flag of struggle for freedom and the right to self-determination could be lowered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who had suffered under the illegal Indian occupation for several decades.
In a statement here today, he said that not small CBMs but big CBMs like the abrogation of armed forces special powers act would create trust in Jammu and Kashmir and pave way for a just and durable solution of Kashmir issue. He appreciated US State Department's observations on human rights conditions in J&K, which had taken notice of extra judicial killings, custodial deaths, excessive use of force, torture, poor prison conditions, extended pre-trial detention, arbitrary arrests and forced disappearances. He stressed upon the US to facilitate all such measures, which could finally compel India to repeal draconian laws in occupied Kashmir and restore full civil liberties in the troubled region.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said India's cosmetic measures and selective approach to the problem could never be acceptable to Kashmiris but India had to take a big step forward to encourage peace and peaceful resolution of the issue, without hoodwinking the global community. He said the people of Kashmir had rendered unprecedented sacrifices for freedom over the years, which could not be downplayed.
