Outlook India 4 September 2004 Friday JKPFL activists detained for violating prohibitory orders SRINAGAR, SEPT 3 (PTI) Twelve activists of Jammu andKashmir Peoples Freedom League were today detained fortrying to stage a demonstration against alleged humanrights abuses here in violation of prohibitory orders,official sources said. Led by acting Chairman NazirAhmad Bhat, JKPFL activists assembled at Abi Guzar locality in the heart of the city and started raising slogans demanding an end to alleged human rights violations in the state and release of political detenues, the sources said. They were carrying bannersand playcards and were stopped by police when they tried to venture out of the locality to march towardsthe official residence of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed along nearby Maulana Azad road, thesources said. As they tried to continue the protestmarch, police detained Bhat and his 11 associates andlodged them in Kothibagh police station.
APHC, AJK chapter condemns fresh killing spree in IHK Islamabad, September 10 (KMS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK Chapter has strongly condemned fresh killing spree in different parts of occupied Kashmir which has further shaken belief of Kashmir over bilateral efforts to resolve Kashmir dispute. Mohammad Farooq Rehmani, Convenor APHC in a statement here condemned the arrest of Ghulam Ahmad Mir under the so-called Public Safety Act (PSA), who is head of a APHC constituent Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement. Rehmani warned that such provocative steps could sabotage international peace efforts on Kashmir. Muhammad Farooq Rehmani also rejected Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh's statement as ridiculous and false that APHC was not the representative forum of Jammu and Kashmir. " Kashmir is an indigenous movement and APHC is the product and true face of this movement, which can not be ignored in the final resolution of this long drawn political dispute of the South Asia, " he said
APHC, AJK Chapter congratulates President Musharraf, PM Shujat on Independence Day Islamabad, August 13 (KMS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK chapter convenor, Mohammad Farooq Rehmani has sent separate messages of congratulations to President Pervaiz Musharraf and Prime Minister Chaudhary Shujat Hussain on the eve of Pakistan independence day. On this auspicious occasion he prayed for Pakistan's solidarity and prosperity of its people and hoped that Pakistan will succeed in meeting the world's challenges beside resolving Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiri people.

He said Kashmiris themselves would have to overcome the underlying causes of its, long stalemate and a final solution of Kashmir dispute must depend upon a congenial atmosphere and self supported search. He warned that Kashmir could not be put on a back burner, as there were thousands of mothers and sisters in Kashmir wondering to & fro with tearful eyes in search of there loved ones. “ The right of self-determination is the recognized basis for a road map to be followed for a just and durable solution of Kashmir,” He said. Muhammad Farooq Rehmani also addressed a largely attended reference in memory of Dr. Ayub Thakur or veteran Kashmiri freedom fighter in Birmingham and paid tribute to the life and struggle of the departed soul. “Dr. Ayoub’s great contribution to Kashmir resistance movement will always be remembered and he will live in the hearts of the people of Kashmir.” He said .
APHC, AJK Chapter pay tribute to late Maulana Ahrar Islamabad, August 27 (KMS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Azad Kashmir chapter in a condolence meeting presided over by its Convener Mohammad Farooq Rehmani here today paid rich tributes to eminent religious scholar and one of the founders of Jamaat-e-Islami in Kashmir, late Maulana Ghulam Ahmad Ahrar. Farooq Rehmani said that Maulana's services for the glorification of Islam and the Kashmir freedom struggle will be always remembered. Maulana Ahrar expired on August 24 at the age of 90 and was laid to rest at his hometown Shopian. Political and religious personalities from across both sides of Line of Control have paid glowing tributes to the departed leader.
Freedom League pays homage to Javaid Aug,30 2004. Srinagar: A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Peoples Freedom League led by Yar Muhammad Khan visited the residence of Martyr Javed Ahmad Sheikh at Watal Kadal and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family, the statement of the League said. "Yar Muhammad Khan said on the occasion that martyrs like Javaid Ahmad have kept the freedom struggle alive," the statement said. Expressing concern over the human rights violations and custodial killings, Yar Muhammad said till the dawn of freedom peaceful political struggle would continue, the statement said.
India must take peace moves in IHK - Rehmani Islamabad, September 01 (KMS): A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Azad Kashmir Chapter, led by its Convenor, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani held a meeting with the Federal Minister Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri at the Foreign Office on Tuesday. The forthcoming Ministerial talks between Pakistan and India in Delhi were discussed at length. A press release by the APHC says, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in his address noted that the graph of trust on talks has decreased to a considerable level, saying that there was a need for India to raise it by taking major peace moves in IOK. He further said that Human Rights violations by the Indian army must be discussed during talks. Calling Indian moves as the "Machiavellian manipulation", Rehmani said that Natwar Singh's latest statement on Kashmir must not go unnoticed.
APHC, AJK CHAPTER URGE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO PLAY EFFECTIVE ROLE ON KASHMIR
Islamabad, July 27(KMS): An extraordinary meeting of APHC AJK Chapter was held in the All Parties Hurriyat conference headquarters here today in which all the committees decided to work according to the set principles. Convenor APHC Muhammad Farooq Rehmani presided over the meeting. Kashmir Media Service reported that the heads of the Committees placed their respective suggestions before the Convenor. Secretary Committees set new strategy to tackle the emerging situation and to take the ongoing freedom struggle in the right direction. Further, a detailed discussion was held regarding the European Union's interest in Jammu and Kashmir dispute and their recent recommendations on the same. The Forum was further enlightened about the spree of human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the concern of the British and US delegation over them. The inclusion of the Kashmiri leadership in the Indo-Pak talks also came up for discussion while the steps for apprising the international community of the latest situation in the disputed region were also considered. International community was urged to play a more effective role in the resolution of the lingering issue. APHC member Ishtiaq Hameed, leaving for Geneva to attend the UN Sub Commission on Human Rights was briefed about the latest situation in occupied Kashmir. (KMS-)

He said Prof. Azad was a versatile writer, poet and scholar par excellence in the realm of Urdu/Persian Poetry, Na’at and Iqbaliyat .His great contribution to Urdu poetry, literature and Iqbal’s philosophy made him an everlasting link from south Asia to Iran. Muhammad Farooq Rehmani is all praise for the years of interaction, in early 1970s when Prof. Azad was the DY Principle information India in Srinagar and he himself was editor in Chief “Azan” Srinagar. “I frequently visited his office and both of us shared views on dimensional issues of society in relation to politics, literature and poetry”. He said. I had also the privilege of traveling with him 23 days in connection with JK editors All India tour in 1972. He coordinated and conducted this long tour of journalists very efficiently and successfully and I had quite novel, useful and fascinating experiences of the personality and simplicity of this great man.” He said. APHC Convenor apprised of latest situation in IHK Islamabad, December 03(KMS): Prominent Kashmiri lawyer, poet, Writer and historian, Ghulam Nabi Gauhar from occupied Kashmir Wednesday called on APHC Convenor, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani at the APHC office in Islamabad and discussed with him the latest situation in held Kashmir. Ghulam Nabi Gauhar briefed the APHC leader about the situation across occupied Kashmir. He also presented a set of his authored books on the occasion.
Azad Kashmir APHC hails peace moves ISLAMABAD, Dec 2: Azad Kashmir chapter of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has hailed the latest moves of Islamabad which it says have given rise to the hopes that these may pave the way for a durable solution to the Kashmir issue. The moves, according to Kashmir Media Service, were hailed here on Tuesday at an APHC meeting. APHC convener Muhammad Farooq Rehmani presided over and the representatives of all its constituent organizations attended the meeting. Participants expressed full satisfaction on the assurances held out by President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali. They urged the world community to work out a solution of the Kashmir issue keeping in view the aspirations of Kashmiris, besides those of India and Pakistan. -APP
APHC thanks republic of Korea ambassador Islamabad, December 04(KMS): the Convenor All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Kashmir Chapter, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani thanked the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan Jeon-Bou-Guan for expressing desire for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir. In a press statement issued here Thursday, the Convenor noted that the international community has become aware of the fact that the resolution of the Kashmir issue is the key to peace in South Asia. Thanking the Korean Ambassador, Rehmani further said that it was high time for India to realize the fact as underlined by Jeon-Bou-Guan that the Kashmir issue can only be resolved through talks.
APHC demands release of Kashmiri detainees Islamabad, December 31(KMS): The Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Chapter of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has demanded release of all illegally detained liberation activists in occupied Kashmir. In a statement, he welcomed the release of Muhammad Saleem Zargar, after 14 years detention. He strongly denounced the ongoing Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
