Srinagar, March 09 : In  Kashmir (IOK), hundreds of women are awaiting for information or contact with their husbands, who have been subjected to custodial disappearance by Indian police and troops during the last two decades.

Chennai, Mar 8: Sixteen Kashmiri youth were picked up for questioning by Chennai police after two of them were found moving around a market here in a “suspicious manner” on Sunday evening, sources said.

Srinagar, March 07 : In occupied Kashmir, amid a general strike, protests demonstrations continue in Tral against the stepped up Indian state terrorism. Shops, business establishments and government offices are closed while the pro-freedom protests continue in Gulshanpora, Syedpora, Pastun, Loorigam, Khrew and Dadasar areas. The authorities deployed huge contingents of police and CRPF personnel in Tral township.

Muzamil Jaleel , Mar 04, Srinagar : When the Army called off the operation in Sopore after a 72-hour standoff last week, four of its men lay dead, including an officer of the elite Para unit, while 15 residential houses had been razed to the ground. However, the top militant commanders it was looking for, who were suspected to be holed up in the area, all escaped, leaving behind two lower-rung militants who had kept the troops engaged.

Muzamil Jaleel Mar 05,-Srinagar : Four militants, including a foreigner, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Dadsar in south Kashmir. An Army captain was also killed in the 30-hour encounter.

The group, sources say, does not belong to a particular outfit and has immediately spread across the Valley, especially north Kashmir, where militant attacks are already on the rise.  

When contacted, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the government had reports about the group. “It is yet to be fully confirmed but we are working on the assumption that they are correct so as not to take chances,” he said.  

But the Central Reserve Police Force and policemen deployed in the area stopped them by using brute force.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad said that the jail administration was not providing hygienic food and medical facilities to Altaf Khan due to which he was suffering from several diseases.

He also condemned the illegal detention of party General Secretary, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, adding that since 2008 the occupation authorities had slapped draconian law, Public Safety Act for four times on him.
