Abdul Khaliq Ghanai alias Jemal Afghani

Abdul Khaliq Ghanai S/O Abdul Kareem Ghanai known as Jamal Afghani Date of Birth 1958, Qualification B.A., University of Kashmir. Studied in Sopore Degree College joined Muslim Students League in Bandipora in 1970s later became member of J&KPL in 1978. Tehsil President of J&KPL 1979. Crossed into a J&K in 1987joined armed struggle. After returning as a trained commander in 1988, he was arrested in 1988 in Bandipur, and was released in 1992. He became Chief Commander of Ex-Jihad Force (Under J&KPL), witch was merged into J&K Al-Fateh Force in 1994. He was arrested on 15th Dec., 1993 in Kupwara & tortured to death by B.S.F., who failed to divulge in secret information from him. His dead body was recovered from a street in Sopore on 17th Dec., 1993. The news of his martyrdom paralyzed life in Kashmir for three days. Martyr Afghani was laid to rest in his home village Kaloosa amidst thousands of mourners Nimaz-e- Jinaza Ghaibana was offered in every town including Muzaffarabad (Azzad Kashmir). He was a noble soul, a great patriot, brave commander & top level leader of J&KPL in IHK
